Privacy policy

How I handle your data on this website.

In short

I use no cookies on this website and store nothing in your browser to recognise you. To see which pages people read, I use cookieless analytics with PostHog (details below). I don't embed third-party fonts or videos. Fonts and scripts are served from my own server.

Hosting

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you open a page, Vercel processes technically necessary data (e.g. IP address, date and time, requested page, browser information) in server log files to deliver the site securely and reliably. The legal basis is my legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Vercel is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Analytics with PostHog

I use PostHog, an analytics service by PostHog Inc., 2261 Market St., #4008, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA. The data is stored in PostHog's EU Cloud in Frankfurt, Germany. Your browser sends it to t.iduspara.com, a subdomain of this website that forwards it to PostHog.

PostHog records the pages you view, clicks on links and buttons, the referrer URL, browser, operating system, device type, screen size and your approximate country. It sets no cookies and uses neither localStorage nor sessionStorage. To count visits, PostHog creates a hash on its servers from your IP address, browser identifier and a random value that changes every day. The hash can't be traced back to you, and PostHog doesn't recognise you the next day. Your IP address is not stored. Session recordings, heatmaps and surveys are turned off.

The legal basis is my legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR in understanding which content people read and improving the site. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, no consent under § 25 TDDDG is needed. PostHog processes the data on my behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). PostHog is a US company, so I can't rule out access from the USA. The EU Standard Contractual Clauses apply to this.

You can object at any time: turn on "Do Not Track" in your browser and this website sends no data to PostHog. A content blocker also prevents it.

Contacting me by email

If you email me, I process your details only to answer your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR). I don't share them with third parties and delete them once they are no longer needed.

Theme preference

I store your choice between the light and dark theme only locally in your browser (localStorage). This information never leaves your device.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Bavaria this is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA).
